About this site

This website has been designed and developed as an IT-based resource package for students and teachers of English in both primary and secondary schools in Hong Kong.

The resources included in the package have been created in line with the CDC Syllabuses for English Language (Primary 1-6) 1997 and (Secondary 1-5) 1999, and are based on a wide variety of authentic English texts. Carefully selected to be not only informative but also motivating for students, the texts are, on their own, an invaluable resource bank for English language teachers.

Accompanying the texts in the package are a number of stimulating tasks and activities for primary and secondary school students. Both the tasks and the activities have been designed to arouse the students' interest in learning English, by offering relevant and authentic situations in which to practise and learn the language, and by encouraging them to be independent learners. The tasks and activities have also been designed to explore the exciting language-learning possibilities offered by information technology (IT), and in particular by the World Wide Web. All of the tasks and activities are backed up by practical teaching suggestions which teachers can access by means of a simple logging-on process (see Teachers' tips).

Resources

The package contains some general resources for students and teachers, including advice on How to use IT to enhance English-language learning and a page of Useful links for learners.
